Two Detentions Following London Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

This incident resulted in the temporary closure of the CTA tunnel and the T3 car park.

An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people were injured by what is thought to be an irritant spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. They both remain in custody, authorities confirmed.

These detentions come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was one of the those hurt during the incident. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment and were later discharged.

Officers arrested a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault close to the location. He has since been released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Police were alerted at about 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of a number of individuals injured by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.

The assault - an event that police said was isolated and not being treated as an act of terror - caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
