Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Lift Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now won the season-opening trophy on fourteen different times.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic equaliser followed by a successful spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions victory.

The Champions League holders seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the match featuring the French league winners and the French Cup winners after the French winger opened the net early on.

Yet, the southern French side struck two times late to take a shock advantage. First, the English forward converted from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a vital leveler in the dying seconds to send the match into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving crucial attempts from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all scored with composure for PSG to complete a 4-1 penalty win.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the twelfth time in the past 13 seasons.
